We are a small group of friends that enjoy playing chess together. These friends started holding regular monthly meetings in April of 2018.
Dustin played on the chess team in high school. He played on the B-Team until his older brother (who is much better at chess) graduated which opened up a spot on the A-Team. Years later, when he realized he wasn’t going anywhere on Saturday nights, he invited his friends over and started this chess club at his house.
Mike and Dustin met when they became neighbors back in the Summer of 2010. Mike basically learned to play by coming to chess club meetings.
Amanda basically learned how to play by coming to chess club meetings. She’s been learning some basic strategies and is a tough opponent.
Her brother taught her the basics of how to play. She’s been learning strategy and improving her game by coming to chess club meetings.
Kyleigh basically goes where Kristi goes, so — when the Minecraft wasn’t working — she gave chess a try. She basically learned how to play by coming to chess club meetings.
He had a basic understanding of how to play, but has been developing by coming to chess club meetings. He splits his time between classes at Kent State, homework, and a part time job, so we’re particularly excited when he joins us!
